Extreme feature: the small pink dimples on the upper lip of this snake are heat pits: they allow the snake to detect heat given off by warm-blooded prey.
Monty and Eric are royal pythons. In the wild, these are found hunting through the grasslands of countries such as Nigeria and Ghana. They are small and well-camouflaged, and hiding in burrows and under tree roots during the day, and emerging at night to hunt.
